How to Prepare for Your Recording Session

Please Review Prior to Our Session

Calendar invite: Make sure you received it by email and can access the recording link, which will take you to my Riverside.FM recording studio. Here it is, just in case: https://bigworldmadesmall.com/studio.

Browser: the Riverside.FM studio works only on Google Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge (please use your desktop/laptop).

Rate or review the show: This helps get your episode in front of more listeners, and I’ve made it very easy to do it in less than 1 minute here.

Connect with me on LinkedIn & Facebook: I’d like to follow you and tag you when I share your episode. Just visit my profiles on LinkedIn and Facebook. These links will open in a new tab.

No homework required — it’s your story, and I’ll only ask questions you already know.

Pre-chat: We’ll have 5–10 minutes before recording to go over anything you’d like.

Time buffer: Please allow extra time after in case of tech issues or if we go over the 45–60 min recording.

Internet Quality/Speed: The quicker, the better. It’s also important that it’s stable. If possible, I suggest plugging your computer directly into your router. If that’s not an option, please set up as close to the router as possible. Upload and download should both be a minimum 10 Mbps. Here’s an online tool you can use to quickly test your connection speed.

Sound quality: Use an external mic, headset, or earphones with mic in a quiet place with strong Internet. Do a mic/speaker test prior to our call, and silence phone and desktop notifications. Here’s an online tool you can use to quickly test your setup.

Lighting and background: Regardless of what partnership level you chose, we will record the episode on video, which helps me with editing. If we have good video, I may choose to create a short video clip to help promote the episode, so please check your background and lighting.

Editing: This is a casual conversation with minimal editing. I typically only edit the recording if we have a technical issue or other major interruption. Otherwise, plan on doing it all in one take. Custom editing is available to Summit Level Partners, in case that’s important to you. See the “video option” below.

Video option:

  • If video matters for your marketing and you didn’t choose a video option when you signed up, please reach out to me right away to review your options.
  • Since I record while traveling, I need to know right away if video is important.
  • If video’s not a priority, no problem.

Goal: Create a great conversation that both our audiences enjoy—and that you’ll be excited to use in your own marketing.

Episode review: You’ll get an email when it’s scheduled so you can listen before it goes live. If you’re not excited to share it, neither am I.

Episode promotion: Once your episode has been uploaded and scheduled for publication, you’ll have access to useful tools to help you start promoting your episode. All guests will receive custom cover art, episode players, and custom links to a dedicated guest page on this website. Base Camp, Expedition, and Summit Partners will also receive their complete video assets at the same time.

Networking: Check out past episodes and let me know if you’d like an introduction to any guests.

Day-of contact: Call/WhatsApp +1 480-939-4679 or email jason@bigworldmadesmall.com (for less urgent questions).
